As the cool evenings of winter (if you can call it winter when the coldest it gets is 68 degrees Fahrenheit) slip away you know you have entered into the hot season. This is the current season here, in Ecuador.
Since we are on the other side of the equator the seasons are a little confusing for me. Worse yet, the locals follow the rule of rainy season and dry season. Let me explain, rainy season here in Ecuador is during their summer season, and the summers are HOT here on the coast. The dry season is during our winter season, and it is the cooler time of the year. However, the locals associate rain with winter, dry with summer. This means it is summer when it is winter, winter when it is summer. Hot in the winter and cool in the summer. Are you as confused as I am?
So, as we have entered into hot rainy “winter” (summer), we see the birth of mega bed. This is what happens in our house when you have 3 bedrooms and only 2 air conditioners: furniture is rearranged and the 2 beds in each of my daughters’ two rooms merge into mega bed. Neither girl appreciates the loss of privacy, but both enjoy a cool spot in the heat of “winter” (summer).
