Traveling in a developing country is always an adventure. Thus, whenever we head out on a day of travel we prepare ourselves for the adventure to come. When we traveled from our home on the Coast of Ecuador to the mountains, the city of Cuenca, our adventure began. Our 240 mile (384 km) travel day took about 7 hours. The very same trip in the United States would take about 4 hours and 20 minutes. As always, something came up on the way to make the trip just a little bit longer and a lot more interesting.
Follow us as we travel on main highways from the coast of Ecuador to the mountain city of Cuenca. Along the way we see a procession of worshipers, a mudslide, a pass of over 13,000 ft and just the typical things you would see on your trip though this beautiful and diverse country.
